Objectives and Stress
This module looks at time and how we use it, it explores time management and the need to balance time at work with life outside work, setting SMART objectives, and analysing your prime time.
Three Ps to Productivity
This module deals with three basic principles of time management. The first is purpose. Making great use of your time begins with understanding yourself –your objectives, your key work areas, what you do now, what will help you be more effective.
The second is prioritisation. Once you know what you’ve got to do, what do you do first? Can you tell the difference between important and urgent items, between progress and maintenance tasks? At the end of the week, do you feel you’ve made progress or merely stood still…?
The third is planning. With a good idea of what you need to do, you can start planning. Do you make time for short, mid and long term planning? Do you use planning tools or do you rely on your instinct and memory? If you want to perform well all the time, it pays to put time into developing a system that works for you and you can use every day.
Solutions
This module highlights some of those real world problems such as procrastination; dealing with paperwork and emails; meetings and delegation; and gives you top tips for minimizing things that waste your time and maximizing your effectiveness.
Action Planning
Throughout the course, students are encouraged to begin making an action plan in the downloadable workbook. The action plan helps students analyse the way they use their time now, identify what they could do to improve their efficiency and effectiveness and develop a series of actions that will help them make those changes.
